A readers’ exchange activity on the Arabic edition of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China (Volume V) was held in Rabat, Morocco, on October 12, 2026 local time. Themed “Deepening Cultural Exchanges and Enhancing Mutual Learning Among Civilizations,” the event brought together more than 50 representatives from government departments, universities, think tanks, and media outlets in China and Morocco.

Gao Anming, editor-in-chief of China International Communications Group.

Gao Anming, editor-in-chief of China International Communications Group (CICG), said in his speech that works such as Xi Jinping: The Governance of China provide a systematic account of China’s development philosophy and practices in the new era. They reflect the new thinking, strategies, and measures adopted by the Communist Party of China in governance, while at the same time offer the international community an important window into understanding China’s governance model and the guiding principles of its development. CICG, he added, stands ready to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with Moroccan partners in media communication, publishing, and distribution, think tank research, and other fields.

Abdel Salam Al-Siddiqi, Morocco’s former minister of employment, said President Xi Jinping’s works cover a broad range of topics from development planning, socialism with Chinese characteristics, opening up, scientific and technological innovation, and people’s livelihood, to mutual learning among civilizations and international cooperation. These writings help the international community better understand China’s development philosophy and practices in the modern era. He expressed hope that the event would serve as an opportunity to further deepen cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and the Arab world.

Zhou Zhicheng, minister counselor at the Chinese embassy in Morocco.

Zhou Zhicheng, minister counselor at the Chinese embassy in Morocco, noted in his remarks that China and Morocco are both ancient civilizations and dynamic developing countries, providing a solid foundation for deeper exchanges and mutual learning. He said that the readers’ exchange would help people from all sectors of Moroccan society gain a better understanding of China’s development path, governance philosophy, and views on global governance. He also emphasized the importance of having more exchanges and cooperation among scholars, young people, and other groups in both countries. This will help the two ancient civilizations to shine with renewed vitality in the modern era.

Mohamed Khalil, president of the Morocco-China Friendship Exchange Association and recipient of the Award for Outstanding Contribution to China-Arab Friendship.

Mohamed Khalil, president of the Morocco-China Friendship Exchange Association and recipient of the Award for Outstanding Contribution to China-Arab Friendship, said that peace means more than the absence of war. It also requires eliminating poverty, promoting social justice, respecting countries’ independent choices, and resolving differences through dialogue and consultation. The global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping, he said, offers important guidance for promoting international peace, common development, and mutual learning among civilizations. He observed that the Belt and Road Initiative, beyond its economic considerations, encompasses cultural and civilizational dimensions and promotes communication and connectivity among different peoples and regions around the world.

Some participants speak at the readers’ exchange activity on the Arabic edition of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China (Volume V), held in Rabat, Morocco on October 12, 2026.

Some representatives shared their ideas during the discussion session. They noted that China and Morocco have distinct historical and cultural backgrounds, social systems and development paths, while at the same time share common ground in their emphasis on family and social responsibility, respect for cultural traditions, inclusiveness and harmony, and their pursuit of common development.

They called for broader cooperation in areas such as the translation and publication of books, youth exchanges, cultural and artistic exhibitions, and green development, creating more stable mechanisms for exchanges between institutions and different sectors of society in both countries.

In the face of global challenges, China and Morocco should continue to respect civilizational diversity and turn their longstanding friendship into fresh momentum for future cooperation. Such efforts, they said, would help sustain the development of bilateral relations and contribute to China-Arab and China-Africa cooperation, as well as mutual learning among civilizations.
