At an average elevation of 4,718 meters, Lake Nam Co holds sediments that store information on environmental evolutions spanning millions of years, serving as a "geological archive" for decoding the environmental changes of the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau. Over the past two decades, the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with teams from Germany, the UK, the US, and other countries, has achieved significant scientific breakthroughs through continuous observation and research. Global cooperation has been instrumental in advancing discoveries, providing crucial data support for addressing global climate change.
