On May 20, an activity named “A Closer Look at Consumption in Shanghai and Suzhou with Social Media Influencers,” which also served as a field trip to Suzhou by a press corps comprised of college students from Shanghai and Suzhou, kicked off. 

College students from the two neighboring cities visited the Internet-famous sites in Suzhou for interviews, in a bid to boost the May 5th Shopping Festival, introduce Suzhou’s cultural resources and city image, and boost the city’s online and offline consumption in an all-round way.

The backpack press corps visited the Suzhou Industrial Park Exhibition Center, Jingcheng Neighborhood Center, Moonlight Dock, Yangcheng Peninsula Drive-in Cinema, Jiangnan Silk Exhibition Hall, and the historical block in Pingjiang Road among others to experience for themselves the economic and social development of Suzhou, as well as learn about its long history and cultural deposits.

The activity was sponsored by the Cyberspace Administration of Suzhou Municipal Party Committee and organized by Suzhou New Media Federation. Its purpose is to strengthen the bond between Shanghai and Suzhou, to promote the May 5 Shopping Festival, to help build friendships among young people from the two cities, and to build a platform on which Jiangnan culture can join hands with Shanghai culture. 

In the future, there will be more follow-up activities on different themes for the college student backpack press corps.
