Noting the telephone talk in May between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Song pointed out that the two state leaders had charted the course for the development of bilateral relations. He indicated that the CPC intends to implement the important consensus reached by the two leaders together with the SLPP, bring the political guiding role of exchanges between ruling parties into play, and advance bilateral high-quality cooperation in the joint construction of the Belt and Road, thus bringing more benefit to peoples of the two countries.

As a highlight of the dialogue meeting, Song briefed the SLPP leaders on some of the major content of the third volume of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China, and shared the CPC’s experience in Party building. Song indicated that the people-centered development concept of the CPC tallies with the SLPP’s people-oriented policy. He expected the two parties to strengthen exchange on governance and support each other in issues concerning their core interests, thus cementing the political basis of the relationship between the two countries.

Having attached great importance to studying General Secretary Xi Jinping’s thoughts on governance, the SLPP leaders look forward to reading the third volume of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China. They thought the CPC’s governance concepts and experience are of great value to the SLPP.
