Vebjørn Dysvik, the Norwegian ambassador to China, delivers a speech at the Norway Pavilion Opening Ceremony at 2025 CIFTIS in Beijing on September 10, 2025.
As a regular participant of the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), Norway has become known for its high-quality products and rich marine resources. Vebjørn Dysvik, the Norwegian ambassador to China, said that CIFTIS is a great platform for showcasing Norway’s brands in the services trade sector.
Dysvik noted that China is Norway’s largest trading partner in Asia, with steadily growing bilateral trade in both goods and services. For example, in 2024, the bilateral trade volume reached nearly US $131 billion. He expressed hope that CIFTIS would further enhance business collaboration and exchanges between the two countries.
Currently, around 160 Norwegian companies operate in China, benefiting from the vast consumer market and abundant business opportunities. This year, at the CIFTIS multiple Norwegian companies present a range of high-quality products and solutions in fields such as agricultural technology, nutrition and health, smart healthcare, and aquaculture.
A notable highlight during the fair was the signing of a cooperation agreement between China Road and Bridge Corporation and Pure Salmon Technology, a Norwegian supplier of recirculating aquaculture systems. The agreement, announced at the Norway-China Industry Collaboration Seminar in Ocean Economy and Health, aims to deepen bilateral collaboration in the blue economy and the comprehensive health industry.
Norway has taken part in key exhibitions held in Beijing, including the World Winter Sports (Beijing) Expo and CIFTIS, for nine consecutive years since its pavilion debuted in 2017. Guided by the principle of openness and cooperation, the Norway Pavilion has become both a window to showcase Norway’s advanced industries and innovations and a testament to the deepening economic partnership between China and Norway.
