Under the guidance of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, multiple language editions of A Concise History of the Communist Party of China including Russian, French, Spanish, German, Arabic, and Italian were recently published by the Central Compilation and Translation Press. On July 1, the launching ceremony of the book in multiple languages was held in Beijing Xidan Book Building.
Members who attended the ceremony are as follows: Li Zhuang (Level-Two Inspector of the External Promotion Bureau), Li Tiejun (Deputy Director of the Sixth Research Department of the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China), Li Yanjie (Deputy Director of the Seventh Research Department of the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China), Li Ping (Deputy Director of the Bureau of Foreign Cooperation and Exchange), Yan Nan (Deputy General Manager of World Affairs Press Co., Ltd.), Hu Baomin (President and Party Secretary of CHINA TODAY, Li Fenglong, Level-Two Inspector and Director of the Journal Publishing Office of the Seventh Research Department of the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China), and Wang Weiheng (Director of the Book Department of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the CPC), Xi Weidong (President and Chief Editor of the Central Compilation and Translation Press), and Pan Peng (Deputy Chief Editor of the Central Compilation and Translation Press). They jointly unveiled the new books at the ceremony. Zhang Yuanhang, the Deputy President of the Central Compilation and Translation Press, presided over the launching ceremony.
Xi Weidong, the President and Chief Editor of the Central Compilation and Translation Press, introduced the relevant situation of book translation and publication. He said that the multilingual editions of the book are gifts for the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China by the Central Compilation and Translation Press. The Institute of Party History and Literature of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China gave particular attention to the translation and publication of these books. Therefore, in the process of publication, broad support was received from relevant departments of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the CPC and the Institute.
Translators and experts involved in the translation worked constantly to improve the quality of these books. Together with the editors of the Central Compilation and Translation Press, they jointly created these classic foreign editions of Party history, which provide authoritative reading resources for foreign readers and enabling them to gain a more objective and correct understanding of the CPC and the development of China. The publication of these foreign editions is of great significance for telling the story of the CPC and China to the outside world, showing a reliable, amiable and respectable image of China, and at the same time, improving its affinity, appeal and influence.
Li Ping, the Deputy Director of the Bureau of Foreign Cooperation and Exchange of the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, expressed that “In the new era, more and more countries and people are showing concerns for China and looking forward to hearing the voice of China. Therefore, the publication of A Concise History of the Communist Party of China in multiple languages could not have been better timed. It is believed that this work can provide the international community with a better understanding of the development, innovative theories, and practices of the Communist Party of China, allowing them to grasp the spiritual outlook of the Chinese Communists and the Chinese people. It aims to offer authentic, valuable, and authoritative firsthand translated materials.”
Hu Baomin, the President and Party Secretary of CHINA TODAY, said that “The publication of A Concise History of the Communist Party of China in foreign languages is of great significance, which scientifically answers questions of China, of the world, of the people, and of the times from the perspective of party building. As international communicators, we must work together to promote these books, so that they are accessible to more readers in the world, enabling them to understand the Communist Party of China, and giving full play to Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a New Era in the world.”
At the ceremony, the Central Compilation and Translation Press also presented A Concise History of the Communist Party of China in multiple languages to the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Communication University of China.
