Who's Your Digital Daddy" makes me think that as technological innovations have opened new channels for learning, getting information and entertainment, people today would rather indulge themselves on the Internet than read paper books. With people increasingly browsing on line, we cannot deny that the habit of reading is declining. The movement through a digital and information revolution is scaling up in both speed and volume, with our children leading the way. However, leisurely reading is a fine way to build knowledge. Reading books the conventional way makes us more patient and what we learn is more profound than "information bites." Parents have a clear role to play in their children's appropriate use of media and technology. Instead of leaving their children alone at home with a mess of digital gadgets, parents should encourage children to read and think below the surface of things.
