Recently the judicial authority announced that a house purchased by one spouse prior to the marriage is not a marital asset and not subject to division during divorce. This is widely disputed across the nation, and there are reports of the marriage rate plummeting in some cities and a soaring number of couples applying to put both names on home ownership documents. This reminds me of the pragmatic side of wedlock, and our positions in the relationship. Though everyone dreams of finding and living happily with her prince on his white horse or princess in white, we have to face the real world in which no one is perfect. Passion is fickle, money is important and legal affairs are complicated. It is no shame to be open about the great uncertainties in the relationship between a husband and wife, and not rude to stay financially independent. My advice is to prepare for the worst while striving for the best. I am not saying I have no trust in love. I definitely have, but it's not blind.
