Life

Although "all-round educational development" has been advocated for years, students are still evaluated only by their test scores. Most students, including me, have to put in much more effort into learning English than learning Chinese. Some students' English proficiency is even better than their Chinese. Good English has become a must for pursuing higher education and getting a good job. It is good to see globalization's influence on China's education system, but our native language should never be overlooked as it is the essence of Chinese culture and national identity.
