66.2 Million Tons

Figures from the Association of Agricultural Production Means Circulation show that China is now the world's largest producer and user of chemical fertilizer. From 1980 to 2009 its output expanded from 12.32 million tons to 66 million tons, increasing an average of 5.42 percent every year. Last year output rose another 2.52 percent, bringing the annual output to 66.2 million tons.
