The World Premiere of the full-length original opera Dr. Sun Yat-sen

a co-production of NCPA & Opera Hong Kong, for the Centennial Commemoration of the 1911 Revolution

To celebrate the centennial of the 1911 Revolution, Opera Hong Kong and NCPA present Zhongshan Yat-sen, premiering at the NCPA on September 30, 2011, and touring in Hong Kong, Guangzhou and other places from mid-October. This opera is the product of collaboration between Huang Ruo (composer) and Warren Mok (Artistic Director of Opera Hong Kong) who have worked on the concept and staging since late 2007, inviting local writer Chong Mui-ngam to join the creative team in 2008. Four years of planning have produced a novel and rare modern Chinese opera.
