French Majors Have the Best Job Prospects
MyCOS HR Digital Information Co, Ltd., a consulting firm specializing in higher education, released its 2011 employment report on Chinese college graduates, known as the Employment Blue Book. The report, based on 2010 graduate performance, indicates that with a bachelor's degree, those who majored in French earned the most after six months in employment – RMB 4,556 a month, well above the national average (RMB 2,815) for people who have completed undergraduate studies. At the bottom of the salary ladder are graduates who studied education, with RMB 2,491 a month. Fine arts and music students run the highest risk of being nudged out of jobs: the unemployment rates for them six months after leaving campus were 15.6 percent and 15 percent respectively. The Blue Book also found that 34 percent of 2010 college graduates changed jobs within six months after graduation, but the more frequently they job-surf, the less they are prone to make.
