National Agricultural Lab to Be Established in Jiangxi

China is the world's largest producer and consumer of rice. The National Development and Reform Commission has approved the establishment of a national agricultural laboratory in Nanchang, capital of Jiangxi Province, as part of the country's new approach to food safety. The National Paddy Engineering Laboratory (Nanchang), which will be connected with the existing Jiangxi Provincial Academy of Agriculture, is intended to enhance the production capabilities of the country's rice paddies. The central government plans to allocate RMB 12 million to build a research center and a demonstration base for the lab.
