98.46 Million

The Ministry of Public Security revealed that by the end of June, 2011 the total number of motor vehicles in China reached 217 million, including 98.46 million automobiles, of which 72.06 million, or 73.2 percent, are private. In the first half of this year 7.6 million automobiles hit the roads, in comparison with 6.88 million over the same period last year. Eleven cities have more than one million automobiles, and Beijing leads the pack with 4.64 million.
