In Schools of Thought in the July issue, the philosopher Mozi is the subject, and his theories make many good points that I agree with. But to look beyond my own selfish needs I turn to Plato's Socrates. In the dialogue called Symposium, Socrates claims that one of the highest forms of love is the love of institutions, which is very practical. I haven't gotten much further in my philosophizing. Plato is one of the first philosophers produced by the West so it's not strange that it's so simple.
