New Yushu to be Built in 5 Years
Northwestern China's Qinghai Province plans to build a new Yushu in five years, the provincial governor said on April 21st.
According to a report in the Beijing Times, Qinghai's governor Luo Huining held a post-earthquake conference on April 20th.
At the conference, he said that the rebuilding of quake-hit Yushu should be finished in three years. It will take a further two years to transform Yushu into an ecological tourist city and a leading city in the region. Located on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Yushu lies in the source region of three rivers - the Yangtze, Yellow and Lancang rivers. Plans also exist to turn Yushu into a key city of urban-rural integration in the region.
Meanwhile, staff of the disaster relief headquarters in Yushu told the media that a draft of the earthquake restoration plan for Yushu has been completed and will soon be handed to the State Council.
