Li Xiaochao, spokesman for the National Bureau of Statistics, said on October 22 that China will have no problem achieving its target GDP growth of eight percent. He explained that China's GDP grew 8.9 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2009, and the launch of the stimulus package helped expand the country's economy in the first three quarters, laying a solid foundation for China to achieve the target. "China's momentum is increasingly evident with the overall economic situation turning favorable." Li added, "The Chinese economy is moving upward."
