Bigger and better duck-billed dinosaurs: the Zhucheng Dinosaur Museum now holds the world's largest of that kind. |
More than 7,000 dinosaur fossils were discovered at Zhucheng City, Shandong Province during the recent excavation of a stratum 500 meters in length and 26 meters deep. According to the scientific investigation team, at least 10 species of dinosaurs are represented, including duck-billed dinosaurs, horned dinosaurs, tyrannosaurus, ankylosaur, and coelurosaur.
Many significant discoveries have been made since the area's third large-scale excavation of fossils began in January 2008. More than 15,000 fossils have been unearthed to date, yielding not only the fossils of the largest duck-billed dinosaur in the world but also the fossils of a unique horned dinosaur. Recently, dozens of domestic and foreign experts confirmed the Zhucheng dinosaur fossil stratum as the largest and richest known to the world. |
