Drinking Tea

Conversation

I

Mǎkè: Xiǎo Wáng,wèishénme zhèjiā cháguǎn jiào Lǎo Shě Cháguǎn ne?

Mark:Xiao Wang, why is this teahouse called Lao She Teahouse?

Wáng Míng: Yīnwèi tā shì yǐ yíweì zhùmíng de Zhōngguó zuòjiā Lǎo Shě de míngzi mìngmíng de.

Lǎo Shě yǒu yíbù zuòpǐn jiù jiào 《Cháguǎn》.

Wang Ming: Because it is named after a famous Chinese writer Lao She who wrote the drama Teahouse.

Mǎkè: Wǒ míngbai le. Nà wǒmen zài cháguǎn néng hēdào shénme chá ne?

Mark: I see. What kind of tea can we have in the teahouse?

Wáng Míng: Zhèlǐ yǒu dàwǎnchá, nǐ hái kěyǐ shìyíshì gōngfuchá.

Yóu nǐ lái dìng.

Wang Ming: Here you can have tea served in big bowls. You could also try kung fu tea. It’s up to you.

Mǎkè: Dàwǎnchá hé gōngfuchá yǒu shénme qūbié ne?

Mark: What’s the difference between tea served in big bowls and kung fu tea?

Wáng Míng:Tāmen shì hē Zhōngguóchá de liǎngzhǒng bùtóng fāngshì.

Dàwǎnchá gèng suíyì xiē, ér gōngfuchá zé kěyǐ ràng nǐ duì chádào yǒusuǒ liǎojiě.

Wang Ming: These are two different ways to have Chinese tea. Tea served in big bowls is quite casual and informal, whereas kung fu tea is a good way to learn about Chinese tea ceremonies.

Mǎkè: Nà wǒ xiǎng shìyíshì gōngfuchá.

Mark: Well, I would like to try kung fu tea.

Wáng Míng: Méi wèntí. Wǒmen yìbiān hēchá, yìbiān hái kěyǐ xīnshǎng gèzhǒng

Zhōngguó de chuántǒng biǎoyǎn, rú jīngjù、 xiàngsheng、 píngshū děngděng.

Nǐ huì duì tāmen gǎn xìngqù de.

Wang Ming: No problem. We can have tea while taking in traditional performances like Beijing Opera, crosstalk or storytelling. I’m sure you’ll be interested in them.

Mǎkè: Nà dāngrán. Wǒ xiǎng wǒ huì fēicháng xǐhuan tāmen de.

Zánmen kuàidiǎnr ba.

Mark: Of course, I’d like that very much. Let’s get going!

Wáng Míng: Bié zháojí, zánmen hái yǒu shíjiān.

Wang Ming: No hurry, we still have lots of time.
