High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) Invest Prudently

The 2009 China Personal Fortune Report, jointly released by the China Merchants Bank and leading consultant Bain & Company, shows that about 300,000 people in China claim to have RMB eight to ten million in investable assets, and 10,000 people claim to have more than RMB 100 million. Eighty percent of all respondents in this group favor moderate risk and conservative investments. As to the 2009 market, most investors retain a wait-and-see attitude, preferring fluid fixed income products that feature better yields than deposit interest rates. The report also shows that about 70 percent of HNWIs have become more wary of foreign-funded banks.
