School Closed after 40 Students Have

Fever

A school in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has been closed after 41 students in a middle school in Ulan Qab City developed fever.

The Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is testing samples collected from the sick students for the A/H1N1 flu. Xinhua is awaiting the results which have yet to be released.

The No. 2 Middle School, in Qahar Youyi Rear Banner or county, was closed Thursday after the Regional CDC launched its emergency response mechanism.

Eleven students whose armpit temperatures exceeded 38 degrees Celsius have been sent to a local hospital for treatment. The 30 others were put under observation in two vacant classrooms at the school, said the regional CDC.

There is no word on how long the school will be closed.
