Gyro Compass Made in China

A new gyro compass that can search and trace local geographic meridian planes automatically has been invented by the Chang-chun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP) at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The instrument orientates itself using the synthetic effects of spin velocity and gravitational fields, and will mainly be employed in navigation, exploration, and surveys.

Using precise shafting, high accuracy encoders and precise leveling, the device features highly accurate measuring, and is adaptable to different circumstances. It is also easy to operate and control.
