Kunlun Antarctic Station Opens

Kunlun, China's third Antarctic station, officially opened in January. Located at Dome A, the pole's highest icecap, it is also the first Chinese station on the ice sheet. It has a floor space of 236 square meters, which includes living and research areas. The steel structure can accommodate 15 to 20 researchers in summer. There are plans to expand Kunlun to 500 square meters in three to five years, making it a year-round station.
