9,600 kW Electric Locomotive Rolled Out

 
 On January 9, 2009, “Hexie 3,” the highest-level locomotive in China, debuted in Zhengzhou, Henan Province.

    A new electric locomotive of 9,600 kW has been rolled out in China, the highest-level locomotive in the country. Fitted with a high power converter, the locomotive is able to haul 5,000-6,000-ton freight trains at speeds up to 120 km/h.

    With various advanced technologies and full intellectual property rights, it will become China's main freight locomotive in the future. It is both energy saving and environmental friendly. Moreover, the high level of automation and powerful functions greatly enhance security.
