A new milk testing technique can analyze whether melamine content exceeds quotas in just one second. Developed by professor Chen Huanwen from the East China Institute of Technology, the technique can also test other additive ingredients in milk.

By adopting mass spectrographic testing techniques, the melamine content in milk can be quickly tested, as well as information obtained on other content.

As a low-toxic industrial chemical, melamine is sometimes used as a food additive by lawless companies to raise protein content readings during food tests. Professor Chen’s research will simplify and improve the accuracy of melamine tests.
