The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has opened offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The offices will help build up China’s food and drug safety supervision, and check on food and drugs exported from China to the U.S. Staff working in the three offices will also be responsible for checking imported food from foreign countries and medicine and medical devices, using U.S. quality criteria, thereby helping to strengthen China’s inspection abilities. China will also station food safety offices in the U.S. in the near future. According to the Chinese Health Minister Chen Zhu, China is setting up a national food safety commission and a national inspection network led by the Ministry of Health.
