Ushering in Greater Accomplishments

Workers at CNR Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd. assemble subway trains – destination, Rio de Janeiro. The city signed a deal in 2009 with the company to procure 564 subway and motor train units.

In the 1980s, leaders of the two countries predicted that the 21st century will be an era of the Pacific, China, Latin America and Brazil. The prediction is becoming reality. Today, China and Brazil have become the second and seventh largest economies in the world, respectively. Both play increasingly significant roles in promoting global economic development and safeguarding world peace and stability.

Forty years ago, people could never imagine the historical milestones the two countries would reach as cooperative partners. We are proud of the accomplishments and are confident in our future.

At present, China and Brazil are in the same development stage and faced with similar development tasks. China is in the process of strengthening reform across the board and rejuvenating the Chinese nation to realize the Chinese Dream. Brazil is endeavoring to build a rich and strong country with a happy and prosperous people. The economies of China and Brazil are highly complementary. The two sides have great growth potential for bilateral trade and investment as well as a wider space for cooperation. As two major developing countries, important emerging economies and BRICS members, China and Brazil share extensive common interests in global affairs and common opportunities and challenges under the ever-changing and complex international situation. Further facilitating Sino-Brazil cooperation is a common wish of both sides with a solid base in both societies. It suits the interests of the two parties and is a great contribution to boosting world peace, stability, development and prosperity.

The past 40 years are full of good memories and impressive accomplishments between China and Brazil. From the new starting point of Sino-Brazilian relations, we see one another’s development as opportunities and adhere to the strategic choice of enhancing bilateral cooperation. We have reason to believe that with our concerted effort, Sino-Brazilian relations will be lifted to a higher level and benefit the world for the next 40 years and beyond.
