"Experience China" Film and TV Conference Held in Cannes

Over 10 Chinese companies have displayed almost 20 film and TV programs on the "Experience China" promotional conference in order to seek overseas opportunities during the MIPCOM (Marché International des Programmes de Communication) in Cannes on October 17.

The conference, co-organized by the State Council Information Office and the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, is China's first official promotional conference on MIPCOM.

The films and TV programs shown on the event cover various subjects like city life, social problems as well as nature.

China's film and TV industry has witnessed rapid growth in recent years. Over 16,000 episodes of TV drama, 140,000 minutes of TV animations and 686 feature films were produced in 2015.

The industry hopes to expand its overseas market and tell Chinese stories for foreign audiences through the event, said Dai Zhongwei, vice editor-in-chief at Shanghai Oriental Pearl Media Co., Ltd.

"Chinese people are becoming more and more open-minded and they are really thinking globally," said manager of the Wit, a French-based information provider for TV and digital content, projects, developments and programs.

Over 14,000 representatives of the film and TV industry from 108 countries and regions attended the event. This season's China exhibition pavilion covered various media subjects like films, TV programs, animations, documentaries and VR shows.

The southeastern city of Hangzhou will host the first MIP event in 2017 which is expected to provide a platform to enhance content cooperation, development and exchange in the film and TV industry.
