China Book Exhibition Kicks off in Bangladesh

 

The opening ceremony of an exhibition of China-themed books and an interaction between Chinese and Bangladeshi media were held on October 11 in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, on the eve of President Xi Jinping's state visit to Bangladesh.

 

The China Book Exhibition kicked off at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka. Tuo Zhen, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Ma Mingqiang, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ashequr Rahman, MP and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Public Administration, and M. Delwar Hossain, president of the Bangladesh-China Friendship Center (BCFC), attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. The ceremony was attended by more than 200 people, including government officials, distinguished delegates and journalists from both countries, Bangladeshi student representatives, and the public.

 

Sponsored by the State Council Information Office of China and the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh and organized by the China International Publishing Group (CIPG), the exhibition is showcasing more than 1,000 kinds of China-themed books, covering politics, economy, culture, history, society, the construction for Belt and Road Initiative, and many more subjects. It aimed at helping readers in Bangladesh understand China better and promoting closer communication between the peoples of the two countries.
