The world's largest deadweight tonnage (DWT) bulk freighter built in China has set sail for Brazil, the shipbuilder announced Thursday.

The huge ore carrier (VLOC) "GEMMA" is 330 meters long and 57 meters wide. It weighs 151,915 tonnes and is able to carry 313,000 tonnes of deadweight, a spokesman with the Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co. Ltd. said.

It took the company 15 months to build the largest bulk freighter in the world, the spokesman said.
