Chinese FM Meets U.S. Ambassador to China

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with U.S. Ambassador to China Max Baucus on Sunday.

Wang said that to build a new type of China-U.S. relationship is in line with the fundamental and long-term interests of the two countries, and it is also the common expectation of international community.

China and the U.S. should maintain the principles of a new type of relationships between major countries, which features no conflict and no confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation, Wang said.

The two sides need to not only strengthen the cooperation and dialogue on bilateral, regional and global issues, but also handle and control differences properly, Wang said, noting that both sides should ensure that China-U.S. relations have a sound development and make contribution to the peace and prosperity in the world.

Baucus said that U.S.-China relationship is one of the most important bilateral ties in the world, noting that there is no change in the U.S. policy towards China. The U.S. will continue to work with China to build a new type of relationships between major countries.

The U.S. will deepen communication and cooperation in various fields with China on the basis of mutual respect and constructively handle and control differences to ensure that bilateral ties continue to move forward, Baucus said.
