Conjunction 一边…一边…indicates that two actions take place at the same time.

他们一边上学,一边打工｡｡

Tāmen yìbiān shàngxué, yìbiān dǎgōng.

They are studying and working part time.  

Exercises: rewrite the following sentences with 一边…一边…

Example:

爸爸吃饭｡｡爸爸看电视｡｡

Bàba chīfàn. Bàba kàn diànshì.

Father eats. Father watches TV.

爸爸一边吃饭,一边看电视｡｡

Bàba yìbiān chīfàn, yìbiān kàn diànshì.

Father is having his meal while watching TV.

1. 马克开车｡马克听音乐｡｡

Mǎkè kāichē. Mǎkè tīng yīnyuè.

Mark drives. Mark listens to music.

2.珍妮听课｡｡珍妮记笔记｡｡

Zhēnní tīngkè. Zhēnní jì bǐjì.

Jenny listens to the teacher in class. Jenny takes notes.

The government has promulgated related policies to clean up small exchequers.
