Cultural Heritage Protection

Ningxia has put great emphasis on the protection and rational utilization of cultural heritage. The region seats more than 3,200 immovable cultural relics and 347 key historical sites, including 18 national and 104 regional ones. The work on the world heritage application for the Silk Road has made solid progress, and time-honored constructions such as the Yuhuang Pavilion in Pingluo have been well maintained. Ningxia has attached great importance on the preservation of intangible cultural heritage as well. The Hui costume and Hua'er singing have entered the national intangible cultural heritage list. Ningxia has announced 54 regional intangible cultural heritage items and built 20 protection sites to ensure the next generation can enjoy them.

Ningxia now has 66 theme museums, achieving new progress in relic protection and laying a solid foundation for the sustainable development of culture.

Continue to Deepen Cultural Reforms

Ningxia has accelerated cultural reforms by upgrading the functions of relevant administrations in the aspects of policy regulation, market supervision, social management and public service. State-owned art troupes have been weaned off government funding and transformed into independent market players. Meanwhile, Ningxia is encouraging business integration in small art troupes in many cities and counties.

Through optimized and coordinated management of public facilities such as exhibition halls, cultural centers and art galleries, Ningxia has increased the accessibility of public cultural services and made maximum use of its rich cultural resources. Its endeavors to invigorate the cultural sector have won the recognition of the central government.
