Guo Chengzhen: China Should Pass Anti-Terrorism Laws
By staff reporter Zhu Hong
Guo Chengzhen, vice chair of the China Islamic Association, said that given the increasing violent terrorist attacks in the country over past years China should make an anti-terrorism law as soon as possible. Guo, a CPPCC member, made the remarks at the third plenary meeting of the second session of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
He strongly condemned the March 1 terrorist attack in Kunming organized and conducted by separatists from Xinjiang. "It appalled the whole nation, the world and we Chinese Muslims as well. On behalf of the China Islamic Association, I express our indignation and condemnation of this grim crime against civilization, society and humanity. We also extend our sincere condolences to the victims and their families. I believe these sentiments are shared by other Muslim CPPCC members and the community of Chinese Muslims as a whole."
Guo stressed that Islam advocates peace and inter-faith cooperation, and rejects violence, terrorism and extremism. "Extremism and terrorism pit people against each other and kill the innocent. They blatantly violate Islamic thoughts and teachings, and are the enemies of all Muslims."Services
