CNR Wins South African Train Tender

CNR Dalian Locomotive & Rolling Stock Company Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of CNR Group, signed on March 17 a contract to supply 232 diesel locomotives to South Africa's Transnet SOC Ltd. As yet the largest single export order for China-made diesel locomotives, it was CNR's third order from the African continent for the month of March. Since 2013 exports to African countries of the group's locomotives, passenger trains, wagons and inter urban trains have accelerated.

Diesel locomotives provided to Transnet feature Co-Co bogies, 1,065 mm track gauge and 3300 Kw AC drive engines capable of a speed of up to 100 km per hour. The most advanced and powerful narrow gauge trains, they can be coupled to locomotives already in service in South Africa.
