Survey Shows Over 70 pct of Urban Women Live Happily
More then 70 percent of women who responded to a survey described their lives as happy, according to the Blue Paper on Women's Lives released on Feb. 28.
The blue paper was jointly compiled by Women of China, a magazine run by the All-China Women's Federation, the Huakun Women's Life Survey Center and the Huakun Women's Consumption Guidance Center, and drew on the results of a survey conducted in 2010 among 10,000 households in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Taiyuan, Changsha, Dalian, Chengdu, Lanzhou, Ningbo and Harbin.
The survey found that women aged 31 to 40 feel the happiest, and those with higher academic degrees or higher family incomes reported feeling happier than those with lower degrees or lower family earnings.
They are most worried about rising prices, unaffordable apartments and low family incomes.
The survey also shows that urban Chinese women value family life most, as the respondents gave the most credit to a "happy relationship and harmonious family" above six other quality-of-life indicators, including health, a sound living environment, a satisfactory job and a pay rise, among others.
