7% growth target makes more sustainable economy: Danish Ambassador to China

"I think that everything happens in ‘Lianghui' is very important for us," Friis Arne Petersen, Danish Ambassador to China, said Tuesday when talking about the ongoing sessions of NPC and CPPCC.

In an exclusive interview with Xinhuanet, the ambassador added, "It's very important for us, as the foreign countries' representatives in China, to be able to see and hear the discussion on the political future of China."

Petersen said that he has been focusing on the Chinese government work reports for five years since taking office.

On China's target of 7 percent GDP growth rate for 2015, Petersen said that compared with a higher growth target like 10 percent, setting a growth rate target at 7 percent would make China’s economy more sustainable and attractive. "Losing the 2 or 3 percent is a gain," he said.

As the direct link between China and Denmark, he also particularly expressed the importance of Danish Queen Margaret II’s second visit to China last year in 35 years.

Like Xi said Queen Margrethe II's two visits have witnessed the historical process from the beginning to the comprehensive deepening of China's reform and opening-up. Queen Margrethe II said in her visit last year that she was impressed by the great changes that have taken place in China and hopes that her visit will deepen the good relationship, enhance mutual understanding and friendship and advance the reciprocal cooperation between the two nations.

Petersen said that the two countries have many cooperation opportunities in many areas including energy, trade, food security and so forth.
