The Belt and Road Initiatives Benefit the World

By staff reporter WANG SONG

"The Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Initiatives proposed by China aim to benefit regional development," said Fu Ying, spokesperson for the third session of the 12th National People's Congress (NPC) at a press conference on March 4, 2015.

According to Fu, the ultimate purpose of the initiatives is to drive the overall development of the region. "These important initiatives reflect China's attempt to use its own advantage to build a cooperation framework with neighboring countries," she said. For China to succeed with the proposal, it has to consider many complicated factors including logistics and regional ecological conditions. "The concept is good, but more detailed work has to be done to implement it." She also pointed out that China is looking forward to the steady progress of the construction of the One Belt and One Road project, which will bring more opportunities regionally and globally. "This region's development is good for the whole world," Fu added.
