Cyprien Kapuku was impressed to see for himself the achievements China made in the past five years. “These achievements are inseparable from the outstanding leadership of the CPC,” he said, adding that he looks forward to China’s further rapid development after the 19th CPC National Congress, held in Beijing on October 18-24.

As a journalist at Le Potentiel, a daily newspaper of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kapuku came to China to cover the congress.

Kapuku said the congress is an important event not only for China, as the country takes stock of the progress made under the CPC leadership in the past five years, but also for the world.

"The congress is of great importance to the world. China now has the ability to promote global common development. That’s the reason why a large number of overseas reporters came to Beijing to follow and report this event," he said.

In the past five years, China has made remarkable achievements in various fields, Kapuku said. "Nowadays, African people know China for its economic growth. But we journalists should present the leadership of the CPC," he added.

In the past five years, the relationship between China and African countries has been increasingly enhanced. "African countries attach great importance to this congress and we hope to see more actions to further strengthen that relationship," he said.

A total of 1,818 overseas journalists have registered to cover the 19th CPC National Congress, said Hu Xiaohan, Director of the congress’ press center, on October 16.
