Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a two-day state visit to Finland from April 4 to 6 before meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago Resort in Florida from April 6 to 7.

This fruitful trip covered two continents, boosting stability and bringing positive energy to the international situation.

Xi’s first state visit to Finland since he became Chinese president marked a new phase in bilateral relations. The two countries agreed to launch a joint feasibility study on an EU-China free trade agreement when conditions are right, and to step up high-tech trade cooperation.

Xi met with Trump several times during his trip to Florida. The two leaders compared notes on bilateral ties, and major international and regional issues of mutual concern, and reached important consensuses. The meeting enhanced mutual understanding and trust. Xi said that cooperation is clearly the right and sole choice for China and the United States. Trump said that the U.S. stands ready to work with China to eliminate factors and issues standing in the way of bilateral ties and the greater and better development of their relationship. The two heads of state agreed to push forward China-U.S. relations from a new starting point, bringing more benefits to the two peoples and the world as a whole.
