The Two Sessions are the most important annual political events in China and have become important to the world as well.

This year’s Sessions are special because they are the last sessions of the first term of the President Xi Jinping. We know the government is pushing forward a very broad agenda aimed at improving the living conditions of the Chinese people and the economic development of the country in a context of the “New Normal”.

The measures adopted to fight pollution, the second child’s policy, the anti-graft law, are good examples of initiatives that have been approved by these Two Sessions.

We know that is a huge task to rule such a big country as China. And once China is the world's second-largest economy, good domestic policies can produce a positive impact outside of China. These facts explain why these Two Sessions have attracted the attention of the world.

In a world of uncertainties, China today has become synonymous with stability to the world. The Chinese government and its political institutions are aware of this and they know that the decisions they make are important not only to the Chinese people but also to many other countries as well.

That’s why I hope these Two Sessions can be very fruitful and a success to the Chinese people and, of course, can produce good news to the world as well."
