A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Thursday lauded a cross-Strait youth festival as the largest cross-Strait youth exchange activity since the COVID-19 outbreak.

Ma Xiaoguang, a spokesman with the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said the 8th Straits Youth Day -- launched both online and offline on Aug. 15 in Fuzhou, east China's Fujian Province -- built a platform of communication and interaction for young people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

Ma said a prominent feature of this year's festival is to offer jobs and employment services for Taiwan youth who would like to work in Fujian.

Ma also said this year's festival has been widely reported by media and attracted the attention of over 60 million people.
