Wal-Mart to Branch out in Beijing


The Wal-Mart Beijing branch.

The world-renowned retailer giant Wal-Mart will open its first branch in Beijing's Shijingshan District in April 2003. Its main structure is now complete.

In the coming years, three more branches will open in Beijing. In the light of the existing Carrefour and Pricesmart chains, competition among local and foreign supermarkets should become even fiercer.
