Famous star-maker, the Beijing Film Academy, says 14,000 students registered for its entrance exam this year. Such was the demand that the Film Academy had to extend registration for an extra day. About 6,000 applied for a place in the performing arts school, which has just 180 places. Consequently, just 3 percent will be admitted, making the Beijing Film Academy the most popular university in the country. This may be attributed to the recent rise of Chinese film, as well as the China film centennial, which takes place this year.
