Fake Diplomas Rampant

Employers in Dongguan City, Guangdong Province have found certification submitted by so-called graduate applicants to be largely fake. The Dongguan Talents Service Center discovered more than 1,000 fake diplomas in the space of a month last summer.

Over half of the 2,000 sets of certification sent to Dongguan City Diploma Appraisal Center were false. Of these, 45 percent were bachelor's degrees, and 50 percent were two-year college diplomas. The rest were Master's Degrees. Experts point out that this is a result of over-emphasis on prestigious college certification on the part of Chinese employers.
