Chinese scientists are developing a transgenic tomato that can, according to scientists, stimulate consumers to produce antibodies to the Hepatitis B virus,

According to Liu Dehu, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science's Biotechnology Research Center, the transgenic tomato is similar to ordinary tomato in many aspects. The only difference lies in introduction of transgenic vaccine. After eating it, people can produce antibodies against Hepatitis B virus. Now the research work is in the third-phase experiment: lab results show that it is safe without side effects.
