Remembering Traditional Chinese Festivals

Traditional Chinese culture draws plenty of attention.

At a recent formal meeting, vice Minister of Culture Zhou Heping urged Chinese youth to uphold traditional festivals. Zhou noted that the values and lifestyles of developed countries are encroaching on Chinese ethnic and folk culture. "Young people are keen on foreign festivals, while traditional festivals, which are full of diverse cultural connotations, are increasingly being left out in the cold," he said.

To continue these traditions, which are the quintessence of our ethnic culture, China's Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Finance initiated a widespread Chinese ethnic and folk culture protection project at the beginning of last year.
