Pediatric Gynecology and Andriatry Services

The Harbin Children's Hospital in Heilongjiang Province has opened pediatric gynecology and andriatry departments specifically to deal with early onset of puberty. According to Dr. Yu Hong, director of the hospital's pediatric andriatry department, the two departments were created from an existing puberty outpatient service. The number of patients seeking treatment has increased rapidly in the past three years.

Yu said that before creation of the two departments, puberty related cases were sent to adult surgery and internal medicine departments. As these departments lacked relevant experience, the misdiagnosis rate was more than 50 percent.
