Shanghai: The Sound of Music -Broadway's Classical Musical
American composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein's masterpiece, The Sound of Music, makes its Asian debut in Shanghai. Based on Maria Von Trapp's autobiographical account of her family's escape from Nazi-occupied Austria, the show first opened at New York's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on November 16, 1959. It would eventually become the second longest running Broadway musical of the fifties.
