Vacant Commercial Houses increase by 10 Percent

According to the State Statistical Bureau, China's vacant commercial buildings have been increasing, especially those in central and western regions. From January to May, 2003, vacant commercial house floorage increased by 9.2 percent, and vacant commercial houses by 10 percent over the same period last year. Meanwhile, the average price per square meter of commercial housing stood at 2,289 yuan -- 9 percent higher than the same period last year.
